La Suisse

2013 - Present

I moved to Switzerland in 2013. Since then I have been shooting several short and long term photographic projects, most of which are around the small alpine village I live in.

Bergbahnen was shot from 2013 to 2018 and features images taken in the summers at low to mid level ski resorts. Many of these resorts are now struggling due to unpredictable snow conditions and climate change.

In Ski Club Villars I followed the local ski club over three seasons as they raced at some of the same low to mid level ski resorts. The project includes very few photos of actual downhill racing, and rather focuses more on the background details and pre/post race and social events.

Alpine Panoramics is an ongoing project since 2015, featuring landscapes of well know and less well known mountain vistas. This is a long term project in the sense that it can take years for conditions to be right to get the shots with temperature inversions or cloudscapes. Prints can be purchased online in the print shop. Most of these are shot in the Swiss Alps, with a couple from a little further afield.

My boss opened a jazz club in 2017, the Villars Vanguard, where I occasionally take my camera along to shoot photos of the musicians.

Dark Mountains is an ongoing project featuring photos of mountains shot at dusk or after dark. These are primarily shot using a large format camera, which can be somewhat of a challenge in low light conditions given the difficulty in composing and focusing on the ground glass.

Movement is a new ongoing project, capturing sporting events in Villars-sur-Ollon. All the effects you see are captured in camera through the use of movements.

Prints from all of the above projects, including large aluminium mounted versions and books, can be seen in and purchased from Galerie Alpine in Villars-sur-Ollon. Alternatively get in touch if you would like to order one.
